CURRENT PROJECTS
I work on a variety of projects all at the same time--some just words, some just illustrations, some both. When I write, part of my creative process is to use objects, photographs and illustrations to help me see a character or a setting, so sometimes, I have illustrations to go with my words even when I'm not hired to create art. And the same goes for my art process. Sometimes I write a story to help me create a character or scene.
View a sampling of current projects in the studio in the slideshow below. Sometimes, this area will be blank if I do not have my own studio-generated projects in process and am working on confidential client work. Watch this space for updates!
The studio docket is full for 2025. Samples below are a blast from the past. I wrote but did not illustrate these two books in a series, the two black and white pieces were from me processing my characters for the book.
A recent example of how I sometimes just do one part of a book. I wrote this book as J.A. Watson (a shared pseudonym used for the series written by multiple authors), but did not illustrate it. Find this book on Amazon by clicking this picture.

This is some of the art I drew to help me picture my main character, Raksha, in Runway ZomBee (from Jolly Fish Press/North Star Editions). She's twelve years old, half Indian, half Chinese, and she wants to be a fashion designer and a scientist. This art style was how I saw her drawing herself in cartoon form.
I wrote this book as J.A. Watson. I like what the illustrator (not me, I wrote it but did not illustrate it) did with the character. You can find this book on Amazon by clicking this picture.
